Samsung sought a new mp3-player concept that would not only compete with the iPod for the teen market, but would also grow the overall mp3-player market. The first digital audio player with slide-out speakers, the YP-K5 was conceived based on our consumer insight that the iPod only provides a solitary musical experience, ignoring the joy of sharing it.

The deceptively simple innovation of high-quality, fold-out speakers on the K5 brilliantly empowered users to legally share their music anywhere, anytime, with anybody.
